Yoshida Hamono Co. traces its business back to the field blacksmiths of Kyushu Island of Japan. These local craftsmen were involved in manufacturing and repairing all kinds of different metal tools for agriculture, fishing and cooking. Yoshida Hamono works to preserve many of the manufacturing techniques handed down from generation to generation. The factory remains a family run business in the hands of the Yoshida family.
Yoshida works with one of the hardest stainless steels commercially available. ZDP-189, manufactured by Hitachi Metals is one of the highest quality stainless steels available on the market. A powdered steel, ZDP-189 can be hardened up to 66/67 HRC, harder than all other stainless steels. Few factories have learnt how to take advantage of these ultra hard steels, but nevertheless these knives will retain their cutting edge for an extremely long time before needing to be resharpened.
We have several ranges available from Yoshida, 2 of their leading ZDP-189 ranges, a Super Blue Steel range and a ZA-18 range clad in Damascus steel.
