Kasumi Knives are produced by the Sumikama Cutlery factory in Seki Japan. Sumikama specializes in producing knives from the most advanced materials, with the most advanced manufacturing techniques and produces knives to a very high standard.
Sumikama was the first large Japanese knife manufacturer to use folded Damascus steel wrapped around a VG-10 core which has been replicated by many other manufacturers. Kasumi knives are typically very hard, more than 60 on the Rockwell scale. Sumikama specialises in using VG-10 stainless steel, a steel mix containing molybdenum, chromium, vanadium and cobalt. This highly sort after steel is one of the best stainless steels used in knife making. Sumikama knives are typically finished with a 15 degree bevelled edge.
Kasumi's original series of knives, made from 32 layers of Damascus steel with a middle layer ultra hard VG-10 stainless steel. Beautiful knives to own and use, Kasumi's Damascus range features a natural pakkawood handle and an ultra sharp 15 degree bevelled edge hardened to 60 Rockwell.
Kasumi's second series, featuring 3 ply steel blades with a core of ultra hard VG-10 stainless steel. The outer layers are made from 18/10 stainless steel and given a hammered tsuchime effect on the blade, which is sharpened to Kasumi's standard 15 degree bevelled edge.
The blade is made from one layer of pure VG-10 material making the knives light and flexible. Round comfortable handles made from POM resin and razor sharp Kasumi edges make these knives a joy to use.
Our Kasumi ranges are sub divided into the original Damascus series, a VG-10 Titanium coated series, a hammered finish VG-10 range and a new pure VG-10 knife range. The Damascus range holds a thorough selection of different knife sizes. All ranges are available to purchase as individual items or we provide a specially selected knife block set for each line.
