Tsukasa Hinoura, who began his craft in 1975, is a 3rd generation Blacksmith from Niigata, Japan and is also one of the most famous blacksmiths in Japan. Hinoura creates immaculate knives with recognisable patterns. Hinoura uses traditional techniques, from forging to hand sharpening, that had begun to be viewed as outdated with the advances of modern steels and technologies. Making one of his knives takes a tremendous amount of time, his knives are hard to get hold of and are highly sought after in Japan and Europe. The Hinoura Legacy continues to the 4th generation with his son, Mutsumi Hinoura.
