Few knife makers carry the legacy and reputation of Master Blacksmith Takeshi Saji. Working from the historic bladesmithing region of Takefu City, Japan, Saji-san has spent nearly five decades perfecting the art of traditional Japanese knife making. Recognised as one of Japan’s most respected and experienced smiths, his work blends time-honoured forging techniques with striking modern materials, resulting in knives that are as beautiful as they are functional.

Each knife is hand-forged in small batches, making every piece a reflection of Saji-san’s craft and individuality. At the heart of the blade lies a VG-10 steel core, prized for its exceptional edge retention, corrosion resistance, and balance between hardness and durability—qualities highly valued by professional chefs and serious home cooks alike.

Beyond their performance, knives from Takeshi Saji are becoming increasingly sought after by collectors. As one of the senior masters of the Takefu Knife Village, his production is naturally limited, and availability is extremely scarce. For enthusiasts of Japanese craftsmanship, owning one of his knives is not only a practical investment for the kitchen but also a piece of living blacksmithing heritage.

Please note:

  • All knives are handmade and hand-forged, so slight variations in appearance from the images are normal and part of their character.
  • Stock availability is very limited, and restocks can take significant time due to the artisanal production process.
  • These knives are supplied sharp, and ready for use.

A Takeshi Saji knife is more than just a tool—it is a testament to decades of Japanese blade smithing mastery.
