The Raden Usagi Chirashi Kai Navy Chopsticks are part of the Raden collection, featuring a decorative rabbit and seashell design against a deep navy background.
Raden is a traditional Japanese decorative technique that involves carefully embedding thin, hand-cut pieces of mother-of-pearl or other iridescent shells into wood or lacquerware. The shell catches the light beautifully, giving the design its distinctive shimmering appearance.
Usagi Chirashi Kai translates to “scattered rabbits with seashell inlay.” Usagi means rabbit, while chirashi refers to a scattered arrangement, with the rabbits dispersed across the design rather than following a uniform pattern. Kai means seashell, referring here to the shell inlay used in the Raden technique. Rabbits also have positive symbolism in Japanese culture, where their ability to leap forward is associated with progress and good fortune.
Handmade in Obama City, Japan, these 23cm wooden chopsticks are dishwasher safe and finished with anti-slip tips for a more secure grip. Combining traditional Raden craftsmanship with a playful rabbit design, they bring a distinctive Japanese touch to the dining table.
