Handmade in Japan, this compact carving knife features a 70mm three-layer Aogami 2 (Blue Paper Steel) blade, prized for its exceptional sharpness, impressive edge retention, and precise cutting ability. The blade is constructed with a hard Aogami 2 steel core clad between two layers of softer iron, providing an excellent balance of cutting performance, durability, and resilience. With a hardness of approximately 59 HRC and a double bevel edge, it delivers smooth, controlled cuts for carving, detailed work, and a variety of everyday cutting tasks.

The striking blue handle offers a modern contrast to the traditional blade, creating a distinctive appearance while maintaining a comfortable and secure grip. The knife opens using the classic Chikiri lever and incorporates a simple thumb safety to help prevent the blade from closing during use, preserving the authentic design of a traditional non-locking friction folder.

As the blade is crafted from high-carbon Aogami steel, it is not stainless and should be cleaned, dried thoroughly, and lightly oiled after use to maintain its outstanding performance and appearance. Camellia oil is recommended for long-term care.
